Virtual Reality

Virtual reality (VR) is an artificial environment that is created with software and presented to the user in such a way that the user suspends belief and accepts it as a real environment. On a computer, virtual reality is primarily experienced through two of the five senses: sight and sound. Several attempts of haptic devices are being developed, but there is no real standard yet: on the other side, pretty much all major hardware producers have come out with their VR headset. Want to try them on? Give us a shout!

Special hardware is required for VR to work properly, in particular a head mounted display (HMD) or VR headset. There are different kinds of HMDs on the market: tethered to a powerful gaming personal computer (such as HTC Vive), untethered with 6 degrees of freedom (such as HTC Vive Focus), and untethered with 3 degrees of freedom, usually a combination of a mobile phone and a cardboard headset, or some other low-end devices (such as Oculus Go).
