CyberNemesis: Turning Cybersecurity into a Game

Cybersecurity has become a global priority: 90% of attacks are caused by human error, and the average cost of a data breach now exceeds $4.9 million.
To tackle this challenge, SecureQuest, in collaboration with AnotheReality, has created CyberNemesis — a gamified, story-driven training experience that makes cybersecurity not just understandable, but truly engaging.

The project

CyberNemesis is a 3D serious game built on the Reflectis Enterprise platform, designed to transform cyber awareness into a hands-on learning journey.
Players step into the role of future cyber agents, protecting present-day organizations from real-world threats such as phishing, ransomware, USB malware, and social engineering.

Each level is inspired by actual attacks and includes interactive mini-games, missions, and dialogues that strengthen attention, reaction, and decision-making.

Engagement that drives learning

In recent years, training engagement has dropped by over 36%, making it one of the biggest challenges for companies.

CyberNemesis reverses this trend by applying gamification principles:

  1. Engagement – points, levels, challenges, leaderboards;

  2. Retention – long-term memory through active learning;

  3. Personalization – adaptive difficulty powered by AI;

  4. Culture – transforming compliance into experience.

The training covers 12 progressive modules: from passwords and authentication to phishing, ransomware, VPNs, fake websites, data exfiltration, and deepfakes, creating a comprehensive cyber awareness path.

Plug & play experience

Accessible via any browser, CyberNemesis runs smoothly on standard company PCs without performance impact.
It offers a 3–4 hour complete course, dashboards and leaderboards, and allows for custom rooms and themed mini-games, enabling tailored experiences across departments. Every session is measurable and adaptive, ensuring a scalable and efficient learning ecosystem.

National recognition

The project is supported by the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN) under the Cyber Innovation Network (CIN) program — a recognition that underscores Italy’s growing role in cyber education innovation. Thanks to the collaboration between SecureQuest and AnotheReality, CyberNemesis combines game design, technology, and behavioral science to create a new generation of cyber defenders.

Conclusion

CyberNemesis proves that effective cybersecurity training doesn’t just inform — it engages, challenges, and transforms.
It introduces a new way of learning, making digital safety intuitive, immersive, and enjoyable, turning awareness into real-world behaviors.
