An immersive journey designed to transform logistics education, beyond the limits of traditional teaching
Driven by the desire to bring education ever closer to real-world work environments, ITS Mobilità revolutionized its training model by introducing an immersive, practice-oriented approach. The goal was to equip students with concrete, immediately applicable skills through realistic simulations capable of bridging the gap between theory and hands-on experience, without relying on physical infrastructure or traditional teaching tools.
The Project
In collaboration with Wacebo, AnotheReality developed ATLAB, a virtual training platform built on Reflectis. Accessible via both desktop browsers and VR headsets, ATLAB offers a comprehensive ecosystem of interactive multiplayer lessons and immersive laboratory experiences, designed to simulate real professional scenarios in the fields of logistics and supply chain management.
The platform includes eight vertical training pathways, each built around specific educational goals and designed to develop technical, operational, and decision-making skills. The system was deployed both on local servers and in the cloud via Microsoft Azure, ensuring scalability and full data privacy protection.
The Courses
Each course is designed as a fully immersive, goal-oriented laboratory experience where students engage in real-world tasks and challenges. Here’s an overview of the eight training environments:
- Robot Logistics Specialist
Students simulate working in a high-tech warehouse, learning how to manage automated robotic systems. They explore safe material handling, proper pallet loading techniques, and how to optimize robotic movements. - Smart Mobility Specialist
Learners analyze cost, speed, and environmental impact to select the best transport methods for shipments. They simulate real logistics planning based on variables like lead times, emissions, and cargo characteristics. - Lean Supply Manager
This lab teaches students how to identify inefficiencies in logistics workflows. They practice recognizing and resolving wasteful processes across various warehouse scenarios, applying lean management principles. - Logistic Analyst
Focusing on planning and inventory, students manage orders, prioritize deliveries, and prepare shipments. The experience includes activities like organizing picking lists, stock forecasting, and selecting delivery vehicles. - International Shipping Manager
Students dive into the complexities of global trade. They learn about Incoterms, international documentation, and how to manage cost and risk in overseas shipping scenarios. - Intermodal Logistic Manager
Participants coordinate multi-step shipping processes. From unloading goods to organizing warehouse storage and reloading for outbound deliveries, this lab focuses on organizing space and resources efficiently. - Yacht Manufacturing Specialist
This unique lab introduces students to yacht production. They explore painting techniques, metal fabrication, and composite materials used in the nautical industry, promoting both technical skills and craftsmanship. - E-commerce Logistic Manager
Designed for the fast-paced world of online retail, this lab challenges students to forecast stock levels, manage inventory, and choose the optimal location for distribution hubs.
Impact & Results
- Immersive learning: Realistic 3D environments, interactive VR simulators, and decision-based lessons keep students motivated and engaged.
- Job-Ready Skills: Each lab mirrors a real profession, ensuring learners develop practical knowledge applicable from day one.
- Collaborative Environment: Multiplayer design encourages teamwork and communication, essential for logistics roles.
- Data-Driven Evaluation: Educators can monitor student progress through a built-in analytics and scoring system.
Conclusion
ATLAB has reimagined how vocational education can be delivered in the digital age. With its modular design and immersive format, the platform supports institutions in creating job-ready professionals through impactful, experiential learning. ITS
