Poste Italiane · Warehouse Scenario Planning

Spaces change.
Decisions can be tested.

Test layouts and task timings before making changes to the real space. A shared virtual environment to configure areas, simulate activities and compare alternatives.

Simulation for operations

Deciding from a plan
is different from
being in the space.

When a logistics environment changes, distances, material placement and workflows need to be considered together. A local change can affect everything around it.

For Poste Italiane, the project creates a shared testing environment before physical implementation. Teams in different locations can try out the same spaces and compare layouts, work sequences and task timings.

An environment for discussion

Configure.
Test.
Evaluate together.

Using Reflectis, operators can enter virtual replicas of warehouses, sorting areas and operational layouts. The 3D space supports real-time collaboration, element configuration and simulated activities.

The purpose is to move discussion beyond representations and into the scenario: understanding how working conditions change when the space changes.

Questions to ask before changing the site

What changes
when we change the layout?

Distances and clearances.

Test how elements are positioned and how much space remains for activities. Putting the context to the test makes discussions about operational requirements more concrete.

Sequences, flows and timing.

Simulate activities in context to compare configurations and task timings. Evaluate safety, efficiency and ergonomics together before making physical changes.

Shared decisions.

Bring the people designing the space together with those who know the work. Collect observations about a shared scenario, including remotely.

The purpose of scenario planning

Simulation opens
the discussion.
People decide.

Bringing a decision forward means discussing it while change is still possible. A shared environment gives teams a common reference for considering risks, opportunities and priorities.

A practical foundation
for exploring what comes next.

This project concerns logistics spaces and collaboration in simulation. Spatial design is one application of Operations & Physical AI: using a digital environment to clarify decisions and activities in the real world.
