Augmented Reality

Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that superimposes computer-generated images on a user’s view of the real world, thus providing a composite view. There is little or no spatial interaction with the environment, avoiding the need of costly depth cameras. This is why augmented reality is the most widely spread immersive technology out there, using standard hardware such as portable personal devices (smartphones) or rugged head mounted displays for enterprises uses.

The complexity of augmented reality comes into play when defining how to interact with the real world: how can the camera recognize different kind of objects out there? Through markers or more complex Computer Vision algorithms, a branch of Artificial Intelligence. How to define user’s position inside or outside a building? Through iBeacon technology or simply through GPS/Localization systems. Interesting in understanding more about AR technology? Ask for a demo!
